Discover The Kirkpatrick Model:
The Kirkpatrick Model is a comprehensive framework that encompasses four essential levels of training evaluation. It provides a systematic approach to measure the effectiveness and results of your training programs, ensuring that your investment yields tangible outcomes.
Level 4: Results
Evaluate the targeted outcomes that occur as a direct result of the training and the support and accountability package. This level connects training initiatives to measurable business impact, such as improved productivity, increased sales, enhanced safety, and effective succession planning.
Level 3: Behavior
Assess the degree to which participants apply what they have learned during training when they are back on the job. This level focuses on the practical application of skills and knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Level 2: Learning
Measure the extent to which participants acquire the intended knowledge, skills, attitude, confidence, and commitment through their participation in the training. This level delves into the depth of learning and identifies areas of improvement.
Level 1: Reaction
Evaluate the degree to which participants find the training favorable, engaging, and relevant to their job roles. By gauging their initial reactions, you can assess the impact of the training experience on their motivation and engagement.

Where Did The Kirkpatrick Model Originate?
Dr. Donald L. Kirkpatrick, the renowned pioneer of training evaluation, developed the Kirkpatrick Model in the 1950s. It evolved from his Ph.D. dissertation on "Evaluating Human Relations Programs for Industrial Foremen and Supervisors." Driven by a desire to measure the effectiveness of training, he applied four steps learned from Dr. Raymond Katzell, a distinguished industrial-organizational psychologist, to create a supervisory training program.
In subsequent years, the model gained global recognition and acceptance. To honor Dr. Donald L. Kirkpatrick's original intent and to reflect the evolving landscape of training evaluation, his son, Dr. Jim Kirkpatrick, along with Wendy Kayser Kirkpatrick, modified the definitions of the four levels, giving rise to the New World Kirkpatrick Model in 2010.
